Alternative music.

When the term "alternative rock" came out it didn´t mean grunge.. or anything that had to do with it. The genre was created because the bands that were coming out at that time (such as Nirvana, Pearl Jam...etc.) did not have a place to be catagorized in, it was an "Alternative" to the big hair bands, and theatrical bands of the late 80´s, therefore, producing the name. I think that the name alternative can be given to these new "rock" groups... because they are an alternative thing to listen to besides your typical rock. The term alternative has been strectched way out of proportion.... now when people think alternative they think about Pearl Jam, Bush, and others... when all it was meant to define was an "alternative" type of music.
